WHEELING, W.Va. — The Morgantown High girls’ basketball team got off to a slow start against Class AAA Wheeling Park on Thursday, and couldn’t overcome the early deficit, eventually losing the game by a score of 47-39.
The Mohigans scored just five points in the first quarter and went into halftime down 27-18. They did a much better job in the second half, but it wasn’t enough.
Cat Wassick led Morgantown (4-7) in scoring with 11 points, and Kaitlin Ammons scored 10. Wassick also made three 3-pointers.
The Mohigans will play again at 6 p.m. Saturday against Linsly.
