KINGWOOD — Winners of the Preston County Schools Technology Mini-Grants were honored this week by the Board of Education.
The program has been in existence since the 2015-16 school year. Teachers can apply for grants of up to $5,000, with a maximum program budget of $15,000. This year, the program was funded through the school levy.
Seven teachers received grants. Mishel Heaney, of Bruceton School, a three-time grant winner, will receive a Google Virtual Reality Expedition Kit.
Chad Cowell, of Preston High School (PHS), will receive multi-media equipment for his journalism classroom.
Brandy Childs, of Central Preston, will also receive multi-media equipment to use in the developing school STEM room.
From West Preston, Christine Rebelo, will receive three “C” Pen exam readers for work station work for her students.
Erica Skorlinkski, of PHS, will receive a USB compound microscope to use in her science classroom.
Central Preston’s Mike Shaffer will receive an iPad to use with his new keyboarding program. And Ryan Cool, of PHS, will receive assorted science equipment for use in his classroom.
