Nellie Nimcheck

Nellie Marie Nimcheck, 87, of Westover, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Feb. 5, 1932, in Kingwood, a daughter of the late Harry Calvert and Mary Agnes Barlow Calvert.

Nellie had been a telephone operator in Kingwood and Morgantown. She had also worked as a cook for Monongalia County Schools, serving at Westover Jr. High and Westwood Middle. Nellie was a devout Catholic, attending St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church. She was very active in church functions, including preparing funeral dinners and singing in the choir. Nellie enjoyed gardening and cooking but her favorite activity was loving and taking care of her children and grandchildren.

Nellie is survived by two daughters, Julie Johnston (Orval Watson Jr.), of Westover, and Dianna Selders (Allen), of Morgantown, one son, Nicholas Nimcheck (Roxanne), of Westover, grandchildren, Frank (Nickie) Nimcheck, Sarah White, Presley Nimcheck, Amber Johnston, Kelsey Johnston, Hannah Johnston, Jordan Selders, Kailee Selders, Drew Selders and Cameron Selders, one sister, Carolyn Fischer, of Kingwood, and three brothers, Paul Calvert, of Kingwood, Fred Calver, of Gallipolis, Ohio, and Bob Calvert, of Kingwood.

Friends may call at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 1 Guthrie Lane, Morgantown, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday with the Vigil Service being held at 7:30 p.m. to conclude the visitation and from 9 a.m. Saturday until the 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Msgr. Anthony Cincinnati STD, VE as celebrant. Burial will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
