Charles A. Channel, 59 of Morgantown, formerly of Newburg, answered the call of his God on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2019, while visiting his son in Winchester, Va.
He was born Oct. 23, 1960, in Grafton at Grafton City Hospital, son of the late Luther George and Juanita Elaine Richards Channel. He graduated from West Preston, class of 1978. Charlie was employed as a Supervisor of Maintenance at the Holiday Inn, and had previously worked for Hostess, TACEO, Fibair, and Ten-Mile Coal Company.
Charlie enjoyed fishing, trying out new restaurants, feeding the birds and following the Mountaineers and Steelers. He had a huge heart for animals, especially dogs. He was a kindred spirit to them all, beagles in particular. Charlie had a wonderful sense of humor and a generous spirit toward everyone he met. He was truly adored by his family, and his absence will be felt each and every day we are separated.
Charlie is survived by his fiancé, Kim Strawser, of Morgantown; one son, Michael T Channel, of Winchester, Va.; two grandsons, Josh and Liam; one brother, John W. Channel and Marsha, of West Milford; two sisters, Barbara J. Martin and Thomas, of Masontown, W.Va., Janice E Channel, of the Marquess community, nine nieces and nephews, and 20 great-nieces and great-nephews; a host of dear friends and his precious fur babies, Fluff, Littles, Boots and Spike.
In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his two brothers, James Edward Channel and Larry Wayne Channel; one sister, Mary Jane Kooiker; one nephew, Nathan Dirk Kooiker; and one niece, Holland Jane Kooiker.
Honoring his wishes, there will be no funeral. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donation can be made to his Funeral Care Fund on his memorial website page in Charlie’s memory.
