Betty Rae Dean, 78, of Morgantown, passed away on Tuesday Dec. 3, 2019 at Mon Health Medical Center, with her family by her side. She was born February 4, 1941 in Morgantown, a daughter of the late Jesse and Dora Rice Dean.
Throughout her life Betty worked at Massullo’s Cleaners and as a housekeeper at Ramada Inn. In her spare time she enjoyed doing puzzle books, was quick to put together jigsaw puzzles and would also spend countless hours painting. At Christmas time, her family would help her place thousands of lights on her home. Betty was generous with everything she had, and would give you the shirt off of her back. Most of all she was a loving mom, and “Mammal” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Jan Bright and husband Gary, Deborah Dalton and husband Casper, Larry Phillips, Tina Piper and husband Mark, Kimberly Selman and husband Timothy; grandchildren, Brian Bright and wife Sarah, Mark Bright and wife Amanda, Kari Baxter, and husband Jon, Jessica Fleming and husband Zach, Dallas Selman, Cassie and Zach Fleeman, Johnathan Chase and Angel. Betty is also survived by her great-grandchildren Savanna, Tristen, Sean, Tyler, Trent, Elijah, Lillian, Laci, Laiden, Addie, Noah and Sarah; several nieces and nephews; and her long time, very dear friend Roger Walls.
Betty was the last surviving member of her family, and in addition to her parents was preceded in death by her siblings Donna Russell, Robert Dean, Mary D’Amico, Doris Scott and John Dean.
Friends will be received at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5, and again from 10 a.m. on Friday until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m., with Betty’s son-in-law, Pastor Casper Dalton Jr., and Jon Baxter officiating. She will be laid to rest at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
