BEAVER, W.Va. — Jaclyn Smith scored a career high 20 points as Trinity Christian’s girls’ basketball team held off Victory Baptist to start the regular season with a 36-35 win Tuesday.
Offense was hard to come by in this game, but the Warriors (1-0) got off to a good start — leading 20-14 at halftime. It continued into the second half as they led 28-16 after three quarters.
Victory Baptist (0-1) then found a rhythm offensively in the fourth quarter. The Saints scored 19 points and held Trinity to just eight, but the Warriors managed to hold on for the win.
Trinity will play again at 7 p.m. Wednesday against Imani Christian (Pa.).
