Robert A. (Bob) Jones Jr., 90, of Smithfield, Pa., died peacefully, Friday, Nov. 29, 2019 at home. He was born Nov. 1, 1929 in LaBelle, Pa., the son of Robert Jones and Mazzie Grasty Jones.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Daisy Jackson Jones; two sons, Robert L. Jones and Donald Jones; two brothers, Willie James Jones and Samuel Jones; and one sister, Lillian Smith.
Bob was employed as a coal miner for Consolidated Coal Company and enjoyed raising livestock and growing crops on his farm. He enjoyed singing and spending time sharing the Lord with his family, friends and others.
Left to cherish Bob’s memory are three sons, Ralph L. Jones and wife Rosemary, of Huntington, Gregory Jones and wife Martha, of Bahrain and Roland Jones of Germantown, Md.; two daughters, Toni Jones and Celeste Jones, both of Morgantown; thirteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; his buddy, Merritt Hawks; a special grandson, Aristotle Jones; and many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Ferguson-Brownfield Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 78 Main Street, Smithfield, PA. Family will receive friends in the Solid Rock Apostolic Pentecostal Church, 3320 Old McClellandtown Road, McClellandtown, PA 15458 from 5-8 p.m. on Friday. Viewing will continue in the church from 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, until 12 p.m., followed by a celebration of Bob’s life at noon with Pastor Les Fuller and Pastor Calvin Redman officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa. with fellowship to follow at the Smithfield Fireman’s Social Hall.
