William Covert

William John “Bill” Covert peacefully passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019. He was born in Morgantown on April 18, 1953, to Freda O. Pritt Covert, of Morgantown, and the late Francis M. Covert.

After moving back to Morgantown from Georgia, Bill worked at WVU Facilities Management. He enjoyed spending time with family and his Cleveland friends whether it be camping and fishing at the river or in the woods deer hunting. Bill was especially proud of the walking sticks he would find and carve and performing “Country Roads” at family events. Bill was also a member of the New Freedom Missionary Baptist Church of Rockmart, Ga.

In addition to his mother, Bill is survived by his girlfriend, Connie Miranov; three children he loved as his own, Bronson (Megan) Phillips, Victoria (Cameron) Williams, Will (Jianna) Phillips and all their children; three special grandchildren, Quinlin, Emersyn, Remington; siblings, Bob Covert, of York, Pa., Pete Pritt, of Morgantown, Larry Covert, of Jacksonville, Fla., Paula Martin, of Kingsburg, Calif., Carol (Allen) Williams, of Houston, Texas, Richie (Susan) Covert, of Hudson, N.C., Linda (Alex) Martin, of Morgantown, Sandra Lear (David Chisler), of Morgantown, Robert (Rosario) Covert of Houston, Texas, also James (Darla) Covert, of Morgantown and Brian (Pam) Covert, of Morgantown; aunts, uncles and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Thomason Covert, brother, Stanley Pritt, and nephew, Bob Covert.

Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Westover, from 2-8 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. Monday until the 11 a.m. funeral service with Bishop Bill Page officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery.
