BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — West Virginia continues on a down skid since the opening of October play, falling to its third-straight conference foe Bowling Green 3-0 on the road.
The shutout marks the Mountaineers’ third scoreless game of the season.
West Virginia (6-7-1, 0-3-0 Mid-American Conference) has yet to beat a MAC opponent, most recently falling to Northern Illinois 4-2 on Oct. 18.
The last win WVU claimed was Sept. 28, a 3-0 win over Penn at Dick Dlesk Stadium. Since then they’ve been outscored 17-5.
Bowling Green (9-5-1, 1-2-0) took a 1-0 lead in the first half behind Spencer Straka’s goal in the 35th minute. BGSU cleaned up in the second half, picking up two more goals capped by Vinny Worner off a dish by Ike Swiger in the 73rd minute.
Bowling Green outshot WVU 12-8, putting seven total shots on goal to West Virginia’s three. BGSU also had the advantage in corner kicks (7-4).
The Mountaineers finish up their road series at SIU Edwardsville in Edwardsville, Ill. Kickoff is set for next Saturday at
8 p.m.
