Kenneth Paul McCarty

Kenneth Paul McCarty, 82, of Halleck Road, passed away peacefully Friday, Sept. 27, 2019, at his home.
He was born Nov. 8, 1936, the son of the late Clifford R. McCarty and Lora Hennessey McCarty.
He was a graduate of Morgantown High School. He started a career with the Morgantown Police Department in 1967, graduating from the FBI Academy in 1973, and retiring as captain in 1988. He then went on to WVU DPS where he served for 10 years.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Margaret “Peggy” R. McCarty; his son, Andrew Paul McCarty; and his little furbaby, Molly Rose, who spent many hours on his bed keeping watch over him. Also surviving are his brothers, Ron McCarty and his wife, Gloria, of Fort Worth, Texas, and Duane and his wife, Sue McCarty, of Morgantown; and several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation services have been entrusted to Hastings Funeral Home. Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, and from 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, until the 11 a.m. memorial service with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. A private family committal service will take place at a later time at Pisgah Cemetery on Route 73, where he will be laid to rest beside his parents and brother, Melvin McCarty.
Ken’s wife and son would like to thank the nurses and aides from Amedisys Hospice for the compassion and many kindnesses shown to us and especially Ken during his home confinement.
