A home inspection for a Morgantown man on probation ended with his arrest by the Mon Metro Drug Task Force.
Lance Quenell McClendon, 45, is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
During a search of McClendon’s house the drug task force found about three pounds of methamphetamine and other drugs, according to a criminal complaint.
On Thursday, McClendon’s probation officer contacted the task force because they found marijuana, white powder and a digital scale during a home check at McClendon’s Grapevine Village home.
Inside, task force officer K. Sappington found a clear sandwich bag with about 25 grams of a white powdery substance that field tested positive for cocaine, the complaint said. The cocaine was found in a shoe next to the couch.
A black digital scale, commonly used to weight controlled substance for sale, was found with a crystalline residue that tested positive for meth, the complaint said.
A clear bag with about nine grams of marijuana was also found.
Using that evidence, the task force obtained a search warrant to find further evidence of drug distribution or trafficking at the home, the complaint said.
During that search, a black grocery bag with three bundles was found in the washer, the complaint said. Inside the bag were three bundles weighing about three pounds total. The substance inside tested positive for methamphetamine.
Sappington previously told The Dominion Post a gram of meth is worth about $100, making Thursday’s seizure worth over $130,000.
McClendon was arraigned in Monongalia County Magistrate Court on Friday. He is being held in North Central Regional Jail in lieu of $60,000 bond.
