Waldo Cliff Lowe

Waldo Cliff Lowe, 95, of Morgantown, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Monday, Aug. 19, 2019.
He was born March 30, 1924, in Morgantown, a son to the late Ralph Bussey and Icie Forest Cross Lowe.
Waldo attended Morgantown High School until being drafted in the U.S. Army. Waldo honorably served from 1942 until 1945. SGT. Waldo C. Lowe received two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. During his time in the service, he successfully landed an aircraft, when the pilot suffered acute appendicitis.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge No. 411, The Moose Lodge and the General Daniel Morgan VFW Post 548.
Waldo returned home and started Lowe Motor Sales in Westover and then worked in sales at Joe Reed Motors, Mileground Lincoln-Mercury and later John Howard Motors. He would continue in sales until just two years ago with Newton Manufacturing Co., where he was awarded top sales professional for two years selling specialty advertising. Waldo never really retired; he was making deals everywhere he went. It has been said Waldo, could sell ice to an Eskimo.
Waldo was an accomplished pilot, enjoyed boating but would rarely leave the limits of Morgantown, earning him the title of the Suncrest Patrolman.
Waldo is survived by his daughter, Susan McCourt, and husband, David; two sons, Scott Lowe and Robert Lowe; daughter-in-law, Maria Hall, all of Morgantown; grandchildren, Rick Hall, Lindsay Werner and husband, Brian, Shane Lipscomb and girlfriend, Brittnee Mathess, Sierra Lipscomb and boyfriend, Derek McMillen, Adam Lowe, Lisa Little and husband, Rich, David Fizer and wife, Tracey and Bobby Fizer and wife, Stacey; and great-grandchildren, Alana and Dainan Werner, Trapper Gill, Teaghan McMillen, baby girl McMillen, due in February, Zack Fizer and Maggie, Tracey and Gigi Little. Also surviving are nephew, Chuck Williamson and wife, Cindy, of Morgantown; and nieces, Linda Cuzzort, of Houston, and Keitha Fish and husband, Kelly, of Cincinnati.
In addition to his parents, Waldo was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Sue Lowe; one stepson, Richard “Dick” Hall; sister, Margie Williamson; and an infant grandson, Aaron Lowe.
Friends will be received at Fred Jenkins Funeral Home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, and from 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, until the 11 a.m. service with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Waldo will be laid to rest with full military honors at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens conducted by the Westover/Morgantown VFW Post 9916/548 and WVANG, Camp Dawson.
