Diana Joyce Kiger McIntire, 74, of Morgantown, formerly of Mt. Morris, Pa., passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025.
She was born October 24, 1950, a daughter of the late Willis F. and Dorothy L. Kiger.
A woman of perseverance and resilience, Diana achieved a significant milestone when, in her late 40’s, she graduated near the top of her class from Waynesburg University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Her dedication and determination in earning her degree while managing the challenges of adulthood were a testament to her unwavering spirit and work ethic.
For over three decades, Diana devoted her career to caring for others. She served in the Intensive Care Unit and Heart Catheterization Lab at Mon General Hospital and later contributed her expertise to several rehabilitation facilities in Morgantown and Grafton, finishing her career at Encompass. Her compassionate nature and commitment to healthcare left a lasting impact on her colleagues and patients alike.
She was the ultimate West Virginia University Mountaineer fan. Her passion for WVU football was instilled at a young age when her dad took her to the games, always buying her a gold mum for homecoming. The love for the Mountaineers never waned, as she became a devoted season ticket holder, she enjoyed many games home and away and even traveling to bowl games. She cherished the camaraderie of the game days and will be clearly missed by her fellow fans in the Blue Lot C3 tailgating gang.
Beyond her professional and sports enthusiasm, Diana found joy in cooking, traveling and spending time at her favorite destination – Myrtle Beach.
Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she found strength in her favorite Bible verse, Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me”.
She is survived by her brothers, Wayne (SanDee) Kiger and James (Anita) Kiger; two daughters, Tammy (Nick) Mandich, and Zehra (Husam) Anik; two sons, Lance (Nicole) McIntire and Steven (Rebecca) McIntire; 10 grandchildren, Mercedes Mandich, Sierra Kincell, Darton McIntire, Madison, Paige and Skyler Richards, Hamza Yusuf, Nisanur and Yasemin Emine Anik; and four great- grandchildren, Knox, Cooper and Kase Kincell and Banx Csorba. She had many nieces and nephews.
Her strength, kindness and Mountaineer spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
In accordance with Diana’s wishes, there will be no formal viewing or services.
