MAIDSVILLE – River Road Volunteer Fire Rescue Department, in coordination with mutual aid units, responded to a reported structure fire in the 800 block of Hagans Road at about 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Upon initial arrival of responders, the structure was engulfed in flames. Witnesses reported to responders that an elderly victim may be inside the structure. However, an arriving family member promptly contacted the homeowner and confirmed that they were not in the residence at that time and were safe.
Once the fire was brought under control, the remains of several animals were located. There were no reported human injuries or fatalities.
The cause of the fire, along with all related circumstances, is currently under investigation.
