Let me binge vicariously through you

I have a ridiculous amount of stuff going on right now.

I won’t get into the details today, but will probably share more about it next week.

Suffice to say, I haven’t had a whole lot of TV time lately.

My evenings are spent on my laptop, or my phone – or, more often than not, my lap and my phone. And my other laptop.

If I do put a show on, chances are I’ll look up 30 minutes in, totally lost as to what’s playing out on the screen. Sometimes I give up and press pause that instant. Others, I push “restart,” only to realize another 30 minutes later that I haven’t been paying attention again.

I’m sure more than a few of you know this cycle.

I have found a free moment here and there to sample an episode or two of something before heading to bed, so it does seem like there are a few promising options out there once (if?) things settle down.

Chances are that day is a while off, but it’s nice to know that when it finally comes, I’ll be prepped and ready for a well-deserved binge.

Here are a handful of things I’ve been able to get a small taste of and am looking forward to revisiting as soon as the dust of my life clears.

1.) “The Pitt,” Max. This show may have been tailor-made for we “ER” fans, but it’s also pretty darn good in its own right. Noah Wyle is back in the emergency department of a bustling city hospital in this medical drama set in Pittsburgh. But he isn’t revising his Dr. Carter role – this time, he’s Dr. Michael Robinavitch, AKA Dr. Robbie, and he’s seen it all. The show is structured in real time – each hour-long episode takes place during one hour of a shift. Something else I love about this show: Most of the cast look like actual people – it’s not an ER full of supermodels.

2.) “Severance,” Apple+ TV. At long (very long) last, season two of the mind-bending dark workplace comedy is back. I’ve managed to catch about an episode and a half since the premiere, but will probably have to go back and do a second viewing before moving on. This is one of those shows that requires one’s attention and, well, refer to paragraph 5.

3.) “The Night Agent,” Netflix. Not high-brow by any stretch, “The Night Agent” is still a fun, brain-candy, action-y offering. Following up on the first season, Peter – now an official Night Agent himself – takes on the bad guys once again. With Rose at his side, of course. Not my usual cup of tea when I pick up the remote, but a legitimate choice if you’re looking for an easy, breezy spy thriller to fill your weekend. Next episode in …

Happy watching and stay warm. It’s about to get gross out there again.
