Irwin Golt, 89, of Morgantown, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2025, in his residence.
Born in Montreal, QC, Canada, January 19, 1936, to the late David and Sarah Golt, he was a man of steady persistence and strong character.
Irwin’s professional journey was a testament to his relentless spirit and hard work. He worked as a supervisor for multiple restaurants in New York City, demonstrating his leadership skills and commitment to the service industry.
After moving to West Virginia, he found a new professional home in the produce department of Walmart. In the 1970s, he also served his community as a member of the Police Auxiliary. Irwin’s work ethic was unmatched, and he stands as a model for dedication and perseverance.
Irwin is survived by his former spouse, Christine Kenny-Golt; son, David Golt and wife Carol; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Pomerantz.
Friends may join the family to honor Irwin’s life and legacy at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Avenue, Westover, from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 19, officiated by Rabbi Joseph Hemple of Tree of Life Synagogue. Following the service, Irwin’s request for cremation will be honored by his family.
