Thomas D. Rodenish, Sr., 81, of Morgantown, passed away peacefully Friday, February 7, 2025, with his family by his side.
He served in the U.S. Navy, was a coal miner at Blacksville #2 mine, and he drove a rollback for years throughout many different states.
He loved music and could play any instrument handed to him. He never knew a stranger and was the best dad and pap anyone could ask for.
Tom was born October 10, 1943, in Idamay, to the late Michael Rodenish and Polly Payne, and his late parents Joe and Martha Rodenish.
He is survived by his loving wife, Frances Rodenish; his daughters, Michele Kirk of Morgantown, Alicia Chico of Masontown, and Cathy Freeland of Morgantown; his sons-in-law, John, Jeff and Kenny; grandchildren, Ashley (husband Brian), John “JP”, Shannon (fiance Evan), AJ, Devin, Lacy (boyfriend Pavel), Josh, Tommy, Chelsea (husband Joey); and great- grandchildren, Lauren, Lyndsey and Liam; along with his brother, Fred; and sisters, Becky and Linda.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his son, Thomas D. Rodenish, II; and his brother, Joseph.
Friends may gather from 2 until the memorial service begins at 4 p.m. Saturday, February 15, in McCulla Funeral Home, with Bill Paige officiating.
