Linda Carol Kelley, 69, of Morgantown, peacefully departed this life Saturday, February 8, 2025, in her home, after a 5-year battle with cancer. She was born August 30, 1955, in Everettsville, a daughter of the late Mildred
Kelley.
She attended Everettsville Elementary and Waitman Barbe Junior High School, and graduated from Morgantown High School, Class of 1973. While attending Morgantown High, Linda worked part-time for the Physicians Fee Office in Morgantown, and became a full-time employee shortly after graduating. She retired from WVU Medicine after 41 years of service. Her love for helping others caused her to return to work at Fairmont General Hospital, where she was employed for 5 years.
Linda’s Christian journey began early, and she was a devoted member of Friendship Baptist for 41 years. Her faith was a source of strength and comfort. She was a steadfast supporter of Agape Life Ministries for 9 years under the leadership of Pastors Lonnie Leo and Regina Riley.
Linda’s love for her Lord was matched only by her passion for adventure. She adored traveling, sitting on her back porch, and eating watermelon while enjoying nature and the beauty of God’s creation. She also enjoyed engaging with family and friends on social media and attending Agape Life Ministries, where she was ushered into the presence of her Lord.
Her favorite scripture that she stood on is Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Vernon Barrett Sr., James “Pooch” Williams, Edgar “Goodie” Williams, and Ronald C. Kelley; a niece, Marlana Lachelle Linear; and two great-nieces, Bayleigh Lachelle and Desiree Davis.
Linda leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for her sister, Vickie Tucker of Morgantown; her niece, Kellie Lynne Bailey of St. Louis, Mo., whom she considered the daughter she never had; a sister- in-law, Barbara Williams of Lorain, Ohio; her three godchildren, Rodney Jr., Hannah and Christopher Wilson; her devoted praying partner, Dorse Kelly; her traveling partners, Vickie Baldock and Melvin King; several special friends: Ms. Ethel Logan, whom she viewed as a mother; Tonda (T.J.) Jones; Rodney and Lynn Wilson; her (BFF/Pastor) Minister Melvin Waites; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Friends and family are invited to gather in McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Westover, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 13. Visitation will continue from 10 until the 11 a.m. service Friday, February 14, in Greater Love Family Outreach Ministries, 200 Frederick Lane, Morgantown, WV 26508, with Minister Melvin Waites and Pastors Leo and Regina Riley officiating. Linda will be laid to rest at Beverly Hills Cemetery following the service.
