Donna Lee Shaffer Day, 93, of Morgantown, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 8, 2025, in J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. Born in Fairmont, she was a daughter of the late Louis Ray and Jesse Gertrude Shaffer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Donald Day.
Donna is survived by three children, Diana Day (Richard) Lucas, David Day (Florance “Flo” Watson), and Deborah Day (Edward) Reese; grandchildren, Leann Lucas, Steven (Bobbie) Reese, Daniel (Jessica) Reese, Michael (Briana) Reese, Stephanie Day (Hunter) Walker, Allison Day (Read) Williford; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
Donna worked as a secretary for West Virginia University College of Business & Economics, where she retired from after close to 25 years.
She was a very active member of the Riverside Methodist Church and previously a member of the Spruce Street Methodist Church. Donna was also a member of the West Side CEO’s Club, where she served as treasurer.
In her free time, she enjoyed square dancing and polka with her friends. Donna also enjoyed reading, playing the piano, and sewing for her family, even sharing some of these skills with others.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Harmony of Morgantown for their loving care and continued support.
Friends and family are invited to gather in Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 12, and again Thursday, February 13, from 10 until the time of service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Jim Weber officiating. Donna will be laid to rest at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
