Elizabeth Ann Allen McDonald

Elizabeth Ann Allen McDonald, of Caswell County, N.C., went to be with her Lord Tuesday, January 28, 2025, following a three-year illness. She was born April 2, 1959, in Burlington, N.C., a daughter of the late Ethan Allen and Faye Hamilton Allen.
For over 30 years, she was married to Michael McDonald, who survives.
Ann earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Appalachian State University and a degree in opticianry from Durham Technical Community College.
She retired from Labcorp in Burlington after working there for over 30 years.
Ann loved traveling, especially with her husband, Michael. She enjoyed going to arts and crafts shows, and painting and stamp carving. Ann was an avid reader, enjoying many genres of literature. She loved everything set in Medieval times and enjoyed attending Renaissance Fairs and reenactments. One of Ann’s favorite pastimes for many years was Letterboxing. She recently discovered the joys of Diamond Art and Temu shopping.
In addition to her husband, Ann is survived by her stepdaughter, Megan Sypert and husband Paul of Reidsville, N.C.; her grandchildren, Mackenzie “Kenzie” McDonald, Maddison “Maddy” McDonald, Michael “Mikey” Sypert, and Layla Sypert. She is also survived by sisters, Pat Allen and Becky Scarlett (Roger) of Burlington; brothers, Tommy Allen of Burlington, and David Allen (Crystal) of Cherry Grove, N.C.; her nieces, Barbara Murray and Rhonda Bangert; and many other nieces and nephews.
Ann wished not to have a funeral service. There will be a Celebration of Life gathering at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 8, in Alamance Lutheran Church, for family and friends to honor Ann and share their cherished memories of her. Ann will be laid to rest at Alamance Memorial Park, in Burlington.
