Lawrence Lee Malone, Jr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully, in his home in Fairmont, Monday, January 20, 2025. Born September 24, 1948, in Fairmont, his journey through life granted those around him 76 enriching years.
Lawrence was a pillar of strength and friendly warmth in the lives of everyone he knew. Predeceased by his father, Lawrence L. Malone; mother, Neva Glee Shafer Malone; and his first wife, Carolyn Malone, Lawrence’s love and friendship shines on through his surviving wife, Nancy Comp Malone; and his children, Jennifer Malone-Clarke (Kevin), Brian Malone (Jennifer), Lawrence “Larry” Malone III (Hallie), and Mark Lipinski (Jenifer). His sister, Sue Ann Malone Morgan (Raymond); alongside his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchild, will carry forth the values Lawrence held dear.
Lawrence’s commitment to service was evident through his tenure as a diligent lineman for the C&P phone company, as well as his honorable service as a veteran of the United States Army.
The diligence and dedication he displayed in his professional life were matched by his spirited involvement and passion for life’s simple pleasures, such as his enthusiasm for collecting rocks, antique tools, seeds, and stamps. Lawrence’s joy in traveling, fishing, and gardening were well known, and these interests often provided backdrops for precious family memories and spirited conversations with friends.
The family would like to extend its heartfelt thank you to Wheeling Hospital, Louis A. Johnson VA Hospital, and Amedisys Hospice for their loving caring of Lawrence.
Friends may pay their respects at McCulla Funeral Home Thursday, January 23, from 3 to 7 p.m. The opportunity to visit and share memories will continue Friday, January 24, from 10 until the funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at Pisgah Cemetery.
