Robert Stevens II

Robert “Rick” Stevens, II lived too short a life. He was suddenly taken from us Wednesday, January 8, 2025, due to a medical emergency. He was born June 20, 1956.
Rick is survived by his partner of 29 years, Sherrilyn Kuehn of Morgantown; daughter, Hillary Cain of Morgantown; son, Matthew Stevens of Conover, N.C.; and daughter-in- law, Melanie Stevens; and three grandchildren: Jacob Cain and Coalton Cain, both of Morgantown; and Mila Stevens of Conover.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert R. Stevens and Betty Jean Webley.
Rick was employed at Morgantown Machine as a hydraulic jack mechanic for 26 years and worked at West Virginia University Facilities Management for 10 years before he retired.
Rick was a kind and humble man who loved simple pleasures like camping, learning and reading about survival skills, hunting, and exploring the wilderness. Rick delighted in all animals, but particularly loved his dogs. He was a bit of an animal whisperer.
Rick was a history buff and was knowledgeable about World War II, and in particular weapons, fighter planes, and ships. His hobbies included muscle cars and diving in Cheat Lake in his younger years, and later in life gun restoration and meteorology.
An informal gathering will be scheduled in late March / early April.
In lieu of flowers, please consider either making a contribution, in his name, to Animal Friends of North Central WV, 252 Brewer Road, Morgantown, WV 26508, or simply planting a tree in his memory.
