Peggy Kelly Kalaf, of Punta Gorda, Fla., died unexpectedly, in Harmony of Morgantown, Tuesday, January 7, 2025.
Peggy was born August 31, 1948, in Morgantown, a daughter of Dr. Warren G. and Jessie Kelly of Arthurdale.
Peggy graduated in 1965 from Valley High School in Masontown, and was a 1969 graduate of West Virginia University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism.Peggy was a self-employed photographer in Harrisonburg, Va., where she also used her journalism background to write for businesses and trade associations in the region.
She was an avid reader, loved to travel, and enjoyed art and painting portraits, many of which she presented as gifts.
Peggy is survived by her son, Nathan Kalaf of Austin, Texas; her sister and brother-in-law, Marcia and Ron Shannon of Morgantown; her brother, John Kelly of Arthurdale; sister-in-law, Debi Kelly of Reedsville; brother-in-law, Roger Day of Arthurdale; special aunt, Mildred Woods of Bridgeport; her best friend, Susan O’Connor of Plymouth, Mass.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Jessie Kelly; her husband, George Kalaf; her son, Michael Kalaf; sister, Linda Day; and brother, Larry Kelly.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Harmony of Morgantown for their exceptional care.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Punta Gorda. Peggy will be buried alongside her husband George, and son, Michael, at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, Fla.
