Janice Gae Tucker Sisler, 80, of Independence, passed away Monday, January 6, 2025, in her home, with family by her side.
She was born July 31, 1944, in Kingwood, a daughter of the late Okey B. and Thelma M. Nicholas Tucker.
Known as “Jan” to family and friends, she married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Sisler, November 7, 1961.
As a devoted stay-at- home mom, Jan cherished gardening, canning, cooking and hosting large family dinners. Her meals were legendary, often featuring her famous homemade noodles – a treasured family recipe that has been passed down through generations. Jan also enjoyed sitting on the back porch swing, sharing funny stories, watching her favorite soap operas and games shows, and spending time with her loved ones. She found joy in watching her family grow and thrive.
Jan’s greatest accomplishment was raising three wonderful children with Bob. Together, they built a legacy of love, family and cherished memories. Her life serves as a reminder to love deeply, live without regret, and create memories that last a lifetime.
Jan is survived by her three children, Richard Sisler and wife Valerie, Tim Sisler and wife Alice, all of Independence; and Lisa Knight and husband Donald of Kingwood; six grandchildren, Richie Sisler and wife Emily of Grafton, Justin Sisler and partner Quinn Shereck of Lock Port, Ill., Amber Hartsell and husband Andy of Grafton, Kayla Sisler and partner Levi Koontz of Masontown, Emily Sisler and partner Brandon Jackson of Reedsville, and DJ Knight and wife Whitney of Kingwood. Jan was also blessed with six great- grandchildren, Mason Sisler, Carter Hartsell, Bexton Sisler, Layla Knight, Jace Knight and Reed Knight; and one brother, Darrell Tucker and wife Linda of Blacksville.
In addition to her parents, Jan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Sisler; along with two brothers, Willie Edward Tucker and Jerry Lee Tucker; one sister, Brenda Jean Rutt; father-in-law, Raymond Sisler; mother-in-law, Garnet Sisler; and her grea-granddaughter, Neva Grace Knight.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. time of service Saturday, January 11, in the Field Funeral Home in Masontown, with Jan’s nephew, Scott Cress officiating. To honor Jan’s wishes, she will then be cremated.
