Jack Michael Cross

Jack Michael Cross, 71, of Morgantown, died Thursday, December 12, 2024.
A beloved father and friend, Jack passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his children, at the age of 71, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Jack is survived by his children, Brandi (Mike) Loop, Erik (Ellie) Cross, Jeremy “Michael” Cross; his grandson, Jameson Loop; his sister, Karen (Dan) Thomas; his brother, Kevin (Penny) Cross; and his adored nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, William “Carl” Cross; his mother, Edith Howard Cross; and his brother, Gerald “Jerry” Cross.
A lifelong resident of Wana and Morgantown, Jack had a deep-rooted connection to his community and an unwavering passion for West Virginia University sports. Whether cheering from the stands or watching from the comfort of his home, his Mountaineer pride was unmatched.
Beyond his love for sports, Jack found joy and wonder in the cosmos. His curiosity and sense of wonder were as boundless as the skies he loved to explore.
An avid car enthusiast, Jack had a particular fondness for muscle cars. Over the years, he collected hundreds of diecast versions of his favorite models. His passion for cars was more than a hobby; it was a way of connecting with the past and celebrating craftsmanship and speed.
Jack dedicated over 30 years of his professional life to working in the IT department at WVU Medicine. His commitment and expertise were instrumental in supporting the organization’s technological advancements, and his colleagues admired him for his hard work, reliability, and kind nature.
Of all his roles in life, none brought him greater pride and fulfillment than being a father to his three children – Brandi, Erik and Michael. He poured his heart and soul into caring for his children, instilling in them the values of kindness, curiosity, and the importance of having fun. His love and support were constants in their lives, and his memory will forever be a guiding light.
Jack’s spirit will forever remain etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. As we bid farewell, we take comfort in knowing he is now among the stars he so adored, watching over us with his enduring love and happiness.
