James Edgar Dunn

James Edgar “Jim” Dunn passed away on November 30, 2024, in Morgantown. Born on October 5, 1940, in New Brunswick, N.J., he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, whose life was marked by dedication to family, community, and faith.
Jim shared 62 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Eleanor Jean Dunn. Together, they raised two children: Cherryll Marie Ellis (Harry John, Jr.) of Midlothian, Va., and Jeffrey Patrick Dunn (Christine) of Longmeadow, Mass. He was a proud grandfather to Victoria Ellis, Harry J. Ellis III, Rebecca Moon (Christopher), Matthew Dunn, Zachary Dunn, Alexa Whitney (Colin), and Conor Dunn; and cherished his great- grandson, Wyatt Hicks. Jim is also survived by his brother, Robert Voorhees Dunn of Milltown, N.J.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Voorhees Edgar and Beatrice Montressa Dunn of Milltown; and his sister, Beatrice Ann Miller of Lexington, Ky.
A graduate of New Brunswick High School and Alderson Broaddus College in Philippi, Jim dedicated 32 years of his career to Johnson & Johnson and later served for seven years with Mon EMS in Morgantown.
His dedication to service extended beyond his professional life; he was actively involved in his community as area coordinator for Operation Christmas Child, a Red Cross volunteer, and served as fire chief at the Limestone Fire Department in Kankakee, Ill.
Jim was a faithful member of Avery United Methodist Church and previously attended the First Baptist Church in Morgantown. His life was a testament to his unwavering faith and dedication to helping others.
He was a diehard WVU Mountaineer sports fan with over 40+ years as a season ticket holder.
Jim has requested that his body be donated to Anatomy Gifts Registry in Hanover, Md., for medical research.
Jim will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, December 21, in Avery United Methodist Church, 1152 Cheat Road, Morgantown, WV 26508.
