Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division announced Thursday that preliminary results in the identification of human remains found last month along Little Indian Creek Road indicate they belong to Kimberly M. Osborne.
Osborne, 47, of Morgantown, was reported missing in May, with her last known location being in the area of River Road.
According to a press release authorized by Sheriff Perry Palmer, the preliminary identification was made after “an extensive investigation which includes evidence obtained during the exhumation of the body, statements provided to law enforcement by individuals with knowledge of the case, as well as digital and forensic evidence obtained.”
“This investigation is the result of a 7-month coordinated effort by multiple law enforcement agencies including the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office, WV State Police, ATF, FBI Pittsburgh Field Office, and the Monongalia County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office,” the release continues.
The release also states the case has been ruled as a homicide and is ongoing, adding “no further information is being released at this time.”
