Steven A. Shuppe Sr., 68, of Dilliner, passed away following a brief illness, on Monday, November 18, 2024 in the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
Born in Waynesburg, on September 19, 1956, he was the son of the late Stephen Shuppe and Mary Bierer Shuppe Ference.
A 1974 graduate of Mapletown High School, he was a coal miner for 45 years, retiring in 2018 from the Cumberland Mine, where he loaded river barges and ran train. He was a member of the U.M.W.A.
Surviving are his devoted children: Steven Shuppe (Jenn) of Pittsburgh, Travis Shuppe (Kristy Stallman) of Dilliner and Jessica Shuppe of Carmichaels; step-daughter, Nicole Logan of Pittsburgh; eight grandchildren: Trevor, Emma, Willow, Savannah, Trey, Mika, Ki and Quinton; two sisters, Shirley Mefford of Westover, W.Va. and his twin sister, Sue Hall (Jim) of Dilliner; his former wife, Melinda Shuppe of Morgantown, W.Va.; a number of nieces and nephews and cousins, and many friends.
Also deceased, in addition to his parents, are his step-father, Stanley Ference, and brother-in-law, David Mefford.
Friends will be received in the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday and from Noon until the 1 p.m. hour of service, Tuesday, November 26, with Reverend William Parker officiating. Interment follows in Shuppe Family Cemetery, Dilliner.
