Josiah Moses Payton, one-week-old son of Isaiah Payton and Regan Teets of Morgantown, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, October 27, 2024, in his home.
Josiah was born October 20, 2024, in Morgantown.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by big brother, Ezekiel Gracen Payton; his grandparents, including Kelli and Bobby Teets, and Tammy Powell and Maurice Payton; great- grandparents, Betty Yoke, Karen Rice, and Allen “Moe” Echard; aunt, Isheanna Payton; uncle, Tyler Teets; cousin, Kimber Teets; as well as many other aunts, uncles and cousins.
Even though his time on this earth was brief, Josiah’s light shone brightly on his family. He was a fighter from day one, who loved his feeding time, and knew that his mom and dad were trying to make him a big boy. His big brother, Zeke, was his protector and guardian.
Friends may join the family to honor Josiah’s life and legacy from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, October 31, and from 10 until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, November 1, in Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Avenue, Westover, 304-292-9494, with the service officiated by Pastor Phyllis Agnew. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hills Cemetery on South Pierpont Road, Morgantown.
