Halfway through early voting, 20% of county voters have cast ballots

Monongalia County Clerk Carye Blaney said 13,434 voters, or roughly 20% of the registered voters in the county, have cast ballots through the first five days of early voting.

The county remains on pace to surpass early voting numbers ahead of the last two presential elections – 20,735 in 2016 and 20,907 in 2020.

Early voting ahead of the Nov. 5 general election runs through Saturday.

The location are:

  • County Election Center (Mountaineer Mall) — 5000 Green Bag Road. Enter from the parking lot near Anybody Fitness. There is no entrance to the election center from inside the mall.
  • Mason-Dixon Historical Park — 79 Buckeye Road, Core. The polling location is inside the red barn near the park entrance.
  • Suncrest Towne Centre — 525 Suncrest Towne Centre Drive. The polling location is next to First United Bank off the Stewartstown Road Entrance.
  • WVU Art Museum — 20 Fine Arts Drive

Voters must show a form of identification to vote in person during the early voting period or on Election Day. Any ID shown for voting purposes must be valid and not expired.

Registered voters in Monongalia County who will be out of town during the entire period of early voting and on Election Day or who are confined to their homes may apply for an absentee ballot no later than Oct. 30. Ballots are to be returned by mail and must be postmarked by the date of the election, Nov. 5.
