Obituaries Rebecca Lynn Wood Sperandino October 19, 2024 2:16 pm by Submitted to The Dominion Post Rebecca Lynn Wood Sperandio, affectionately known as Becky to her loved ones, passed away serenely Thursday, October 17, 2024, in Core. Born in Marlinton, September 16, 1958, Becky’s light shone brightly for 66 years, leaving a legacy of kindness, passion, and unwavering love for life.Becky was the heartbeat of her home, cherishing her role as a devoted homemaker and the beloved wife of Gary Sperandio. Together they built a life filled with laughter and joy. Becky was a proud and supportive mother to her two sons, Tony Sperandio (Kim), and Clay Sperandio (Tara), and she reveled in the bustling energy of her grandchildren and great- grandchildren, whose lives she touched with her immense love and generosity. She was the precious daughter of the late Donald and Doris See Wood, and she inherited their strength and vibrant spirit.Becky’s siblings, Sandy Crites (Harold “Butch”), Ronald Wood (Jonda), and Donald Wood, Jr.; along with her brother-in-law, Dan Sperandio (Martha), will forever cherish the memories of their spirited sister and sister-in- law.Her nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of very close friends, too, will miss the special bond they shared with Becky, a bond characterized by her unwavering kindness and the sense of fun she brought into their lives.Becky contributed her skills and dedication to organizations such as the Greene County Airmen in Waynesburg, serving as secretary-treasurer, and devoted her time as treasurer for the Mountaineer Chapter of the Alliance of Bikers Aimed Toward Education “ABATE.”Becky’s interests painted the picture of a woman who embraced adventure and nurtured beauty. A skilled airplane pilot, she soared above the clouds with the same grace she rendered in her relationships on the ground. Her love for riding Harley’s emboldened others to seek freedom and joy, while her hands cultivated an oasis of flowers and plants that reflected her inner radiance. Feeding and taming wildlife in her yard, she shared her affection with creatures great and small, extending her heart into nature’s embrace.Describing Becky is simple: she was kind. Yet, within that simplicity lies an ocean of love, passion, and care that she poured into her life and the lives of those around her. Becky will be profoundly missed, but her spirit, like the perennial blossoms she so dearly loved, will continue to flourish in the hearts of all she touched.Friends are invited to gather at McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Westover, from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, October 20, and again from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Monday, October 21, with Pastor Bob Sisler officiating.
