Richard “Rich” Gay Shrout, 74, of Kingwood, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2024, in his residence, surrounded by his family. He was born March 14, 1950, in Kingwood, a son of the late Gay Matthew Shrout and Elena Francis Black Shrout.
His wife, Sandra Sue Albright Shrout, survives.
Rich was a 1968 graduate of Kingwood High School.
He was retired having worked in construction for Nelson Corbin, and as a bus driver for the Buckwheat Express and the Preston County Senior Citizens.
He enjoyed singing Karaoke, where he was affectionately known as “Elvis”, working on automobiles, deer hunting, and fishing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Tonya Pond (Stanley) of Prattsburgh, N.Y., and Rachel Metheny (Eric) of Morgantown; one very special granddaughter, Jenna Sypolt of Morgantown; one sister, Dottie Close (Leonard) of Kingwood; along with one step-grandson, Orion Metheny (Kaylee) of Bruceton Mills.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Iris Black; four sisters, Patty Shrout, Jeanie Uphold, Betty Black, and Terrie Wilhelm.
Family and friends are welcome to attend the graveside service that will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, October 12, at Mount Moriah Cemetery, with the Reverend David Spence officiating.
