Dale “Dunbar” Lee Dunn, of Snake Hill Road, climbed back into his truck and put the hammer down while headed to glory Wednesday, October 9, 2024, to join his father, Amos Dunn; his mother, Sylvia Francis Hussing Dunn; and siblings, sister Jeannie Cale and brother Bobby Nelson Dunn. He was surrounded by his beloved family.
Dale took great pride in his work and loved being behind the wheel. He began his career as a truck driver in his teens and became an owner / operator in the late 1960s. He worked for Greer Limestone for 40+ years. His contributions were integral to creating interstate and lock & dam systems that helped grow Morgantown.
Dale enjoyed spending time with friends and family at reunions, holiday gatherings, the Mon County Senior Center, truck shows, and regular meet ups at McDonalds. He was a fierce competitor in foot races at Greer and family reunion tournaments, where he was the rook champion twice and horseshoe champion once.
He was a man who valued hard work, integrity, and the incredible views from his window, where he enjoyed feeding the crows. Simply put, Dale was a good man who lived a good life and raised a good family.
Dale is survived in death by his daughters, Daleen Cornwell (Michael), and Dana Renee Johnson (Oog); his grandchildren, Jody Loren Johnson, Jessica Daleen Johnson, Hunter Propst Cornwell, Brooke Victoria Cornwell; and his brother, Darrell “Buck” Dunn.
