Deborah King

Deborah Ann King, 72, of Morgantown, passed away on Friday, September 13, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer. She fought up until the very end, passing peacefully in her home surrounded by family.  

Debby was born Feb. 9, 1952, in Morgantown, one of four children to the late Harry and Frances Hartley Richards, of Morgantown.  

She was a 1970 graduate of Morgantown High School and attended WVU. Debby was an LPN and worked at many different medical offices in the Morgantown area, retiring from the Morgantown ENT clinic after more than 25 years. In 2011, she married Dr. Roger King, of Morgantown, where they resided in Cheat Lake. After retiring, Debby enjoyed reading, making crafts, gardening, spending time at their home in Bluffton, S.C., her beloved dog Baxter and being a wonderful Nana to Wyatt, Boone and Oakley, who will dearly miss the toys she always bought them. Debby was a strong woman of Faith and always put her trust in God. She was also a longtime member of Suncrest United Methodist Church.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Betty Jo Harper and husband, Robert Giff Harper, of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; and brother-in-law, Ralph Lowther, of Brandenburg, Ky.  

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Roger King, of Morgantown; one son, Timothy Joseph Teter; three grandchildren, Wyatt, Boone and Oakley Teter; and a stepdaughter, Elizabeth King, of Richmond, Va. In addition, she is survived by siblings, Diane Lowther, of Brandenburg, Ky., and Thomas Richards, of Morgantown.  

The family would like to give thanks to the team at WV Caring Hospice for their help and support. 

Friends and family will be received at Greater Love Family Outreach Ministries, 200 Frederick Lane, Morgantown, from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19, and again from 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 20, until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Junius Lewis officiating. In keeping with her wishes, Hastings Funeral Home has been entrusted with cremation which will take place following the service.
