Karen Richardson

Karen Marie Richardson, born on a chilly December morning in 1962 in Allentown, Pa. and known for her warm heart and infectious laugh, took her final curtain call in Morgantown on September 8, 2024.

Karen, a woman who could out-talk anyone, even during a soap opera cliffhanger, shared her love and laughter as a devoted mother, a cherished friend and the unofficial queen of coffee chats.

She is celebrated by a vivacious family: her daughter, Candice; son, Charlie; and a squad of grandchildren, Aubrey, Eleanor, Titus, Hank and Colton, who were her most adored audience. Karen’s sidekick in every comedic escapade, Angela Snyder, will deeply miss her best friend’s perfectly timed punchlines.

Karen’s life was a masterclass in joy. She didn’t just juggle the roles of mother and friend; she made it look like an artform worthy of a standing ovation. Her legacy is one of laughter, love and the kind of storytelling that could make even the dullest day feel like a prime-time special.

A celebration of her life will be held in Texas with family members at a later date. At the request of the family, Karen will be cremated. Smith Funeral & Cremation Care and SFCC Crematory of Westover / Morgantown is providing compassionate professional services to the family.
