MORGANTOWN — 12-year-old Garrett Rohozen was a member of the Lake Mary, Fla. Little League World Series team that beat Taiwan 2-1 in eight innings in the LLWS championship on Aug. 25.
Rohozen and his family — father Jan, mother Michelle and older brother Quentin — are originally from Morgantown. His parents were born in Morgantown and moved to Florida after his mother graduated from WVU.
Rohozen was a utility player for Lake Mary, playing every position on the field. He hit a home run in the fourth inning against Henderson, NV to bring the team to the U.S. Final game. He also scored the game-tying run in the U.S. Final against Boerne, TX.
“He’s been very calm throughout the whole thing — he remains calm during stressful times.” Michelle Rohozen said.

Garrett started with tee-ball and Little League when he was four years old, he’s grown a very big passion for the sport and loves to be on the field.
“We started him in the little league at four years old and it grew from there,” Jan Rohozen said.
The entire Rohozen family was able to travel to Williamsport, Pa. to watch Garrett play, including his grandparents, Paul and Susan Stout and John and Norma Rohozen, who all still live in Morgantown.
”It was an incredible experience — nothing can prepare a parent for this moment,” Michelle said.
