The Center for Applied Coaching and Sport Sciences at WVU and Mountaineer Athletics hosted the fourth annual Youth Sports Day at the Capterton Indoor Practice Facility, Sept. 7, prior to kickoff of the Mountaineers-Albany Great Danes football game.
Youth Sports Day is an opportunity to provide information about quality youth sport programs, the importance of sport sampling for developing the athletic skills and fitness youth need to participate in sports programs, according to Kristen Dieffenbach, professor of coaching and performance science in the College of Applied Human Sciences.
WVU students studying coaching and sport sciences engaged with kids and families to share best practices in supporting youth sport engagement.
All Youth Sports Day participants received discounted game tickets and the first 300 kids to sign up received an exclusive WVU Youth Sports Day hat courtesy of UScellular, an event sponsor.
