Betty Lawson

Betty Lee Rose Lawson passed away in Venice, FL on August 22, 2024, surrounded by angels and family.

She was born in Morgantown, WV on Sept. 8, 1946.

She is survived by her husband of 58 wonderful years, Jerry Lawson; their son, Craig (Jennifer) and daughter, Kaitlyn, of Aurora, CO; her sister, Carolyn Rose-Holm, of Rotonda West, FL; niece, Sherry (Dave) Griffith and daughters, Lauren and Morgan, of Avon, CT; and nephew, Ken (Jill) Fetty, of Orrville, OH.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James P. and Nettie Waveleen Rose; her sister, Deloris Rose Fetty; and great-nephew, Benjamin Fetty.

After graduating high school, she received her Business Associate’s degree from Morgantown Business College in Morgantown, WV. She also received her insurance agent license in Florida after taking classes and passing the Florida State Exam.

She was a very talented home interior decorator and designer and one of the best cooks and bakers – her meals and baked goods would put any restaurant or bakery to shame. Her talents included being accomplished on the piano, singing and artistic work. Local charities and organizations would call her first when planning a bake sale, as they knew her homemade goods would bring in the most money for their causes.

Betty and Jerry’s home is so beautiful inside and out that anyone who visited said it should be featured in Home Beautiful magazines. They loved entertaining family and friends.

She was unforgettable to anyone who met her. She was a beautiful petite blond with big blue eyes that could stop traffic. She was a very charming lady with a soft-spoken voice, was very witty and had exquisite style and social graces.

She was a member of Englewood Art Center, a division of Ringling College of Art and Design in Florida, a lifetime member of the Ladies Aux. to the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a lifetime member of Olive Methodist Church.

She was a loving wife, a great mom and grandmother (aka “Mimi”). She will be loved beyond words and missed beyond measure by her family and friends.
