STEWART, Oh. — Trinity Christian’s football game at Federal Hocking (Oh.) was called off after a player went down with heat exhaustion early in the contest Friday evening.
First-year head coach Jason White said the player was taken by ambulance to a nearby medical facility. He was released later that night and returned home to Morgantown.
“It was scary for a minute, but our trainer jumped into action,” White said. “She knew what to do and we were able to help her.”
The referees were giving teams extra time throughout the game for water breaks, but White said the heat was just too much.
Federal Hocking led 8-0 at the time. The game counts as a forfeit, 1-0 loss for the Warriors.
It was Trinity’s first football game since 2022 after the Warriors were unable to field a team last season.
“The boys were pretty torn up, but it was the right call to end the game,” White said.
Trinity is scheduled to travel to Berkeley Springs next week.
