Frank Leslie Field, 81, of Morgantown, was called home and welcomed by his Beloved God and Savior, surrounded by the Holy Spirit and loving family at his home on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.
Frank was born in Morgantown on June 6, 1943, the son of the late George and Lena (Parsons) Field.
He attended University High School and served in the United States Navy as a medic. He later worked as a coal miner, certified electrician, construction worker, CDL holder and farmer. Frank was active in the construction of several buildings and landmarks in the area which include the WVU Coliseum and Hope Church on Hornbeck Road, where he faithfully attended. Frank helped build the dam in Point Marion, Pa. and the World Trade Center during the original construction of the towers.
As the Word of God and Holy Spirit led him to do, he was a cheerful giver, giving to the Wounded Warriors, Native American reservation children, missionaries, political causes he passionately supported and those he saw in need. He was an avid reader of the Bible and loved good old gospel, country and bluegrass music, and he often shared encouraging memes and links to music he enjoyed with friends and family on Facebook. He loved traveling, and he was always excited about trying new foods. He always had extra goodies on the table to share with visitors who dropped in.
Frank is survived by six daughters, Donna Willis (husband, Lewis), Sally Stuyvesant (husband, Jeff), Karen Whipkey (husband, Dwayne), Joyce Field (partner, George Marshall), Sara Radcliff (husband, Johnny) and Blanche Kessler (husband, Joshua); one sister, Mary (Field) Habovick; one brother, Richard Field; as well as grandchildren, Kayla Field, Steven Tichenor, Justin Tichenor, Andrew Tichenor, Tiffany Tichenor, Brandon Whipkey, Jaclyn Pugh, Ashley Ramsden, Madison Stout, Amber Underwood, Skyler Hartshorn, Brian James Hipp, Johnny Radcliff, Peyton Kessler, Arianna Kessler and Robert Kessler and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Blanche (Skavinsky) Field; three sisters, Mona (Field) Stewart, Lois (Field) Gwyn Korostynski and Eleanor Field; as well as several angel grandbabies and great-grandbabies.
Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28, until the time of the funeral service at noon with Pastors Allen and Jody Donham officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Morgantown. Military funeral rites will be conducted at the cemetery.
