Man who threatened assistant prosecuting attorney found guilty

KINGWOOD — A man who threatened to kill the Preston County assistant prosecuting attorney in October 2023 was found guilty this week. 

Mark Randal Lambert is set to be sentenced Oct. 17.  

A two-day trial in Preston County Circuit Court  concluded with  the jury returning a verdict of guilty on two counts of threat of a terrorist act. 

James  Shay Jr., prosecuting attorney of Preston County, tried this case on behalf of the state.  

Retired Capt. T.N. Tichnell of the Preston County Sheriff’s Department was the investigating officer. 

He was  commended for his service and commitment to bring justice in this matter.  

Other agencies and officers contributed to the investigation. 

They include  Capt. Thomas Mitter and Lt. Susan Mitter, of the Preston County Sheriff’s Office; Chief Paul Rowan, of the Reedsville Police Department; and Parole Officer Phillip Poling, of the West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitations Parole Services Office.
