The Town of Star City is offering a “Hometown Hero” program to allow families to honor veterans with banners placed on the light poles leading to and from the John F. Kennedy Memorial Park near the town’s riverfront.
The banners are two-sided and measure 18 by 36 inches.
Each will include a veteran’s photo and branch of the military he or she served or are currently serving.
The town will put the banners up near Memorial Day (May) and take them down after Veterans Day (Nov. 11).
The cost is $130 and orders can be placed in person at Star City Town Hall, 370 Broadway Ave., during regular business hours 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Orders also can be mailed with payment to: Town of Star City, Hometown Hero Program, 370 Broadway Ave., Star City, WV 26505
The life expectancy of each flag is six years.
Star City makes no profit from the sale of the flags.
