Police in Morgantown and Westover made several unrelated drug arrests Aug. 18, resulting in felony drug charges against three individuals and a misdemeanor for another.
At approximately 5:24 a.m. Sunday, Westover officers Brewer and Tetrick were called to the BFS gas station on Chaplin Road for a man who believed police were chasing him.
There, the officers identified the man as Brian Maciejewski, 30, of Boynton Beach, Fla.
Court records state officers noticed Maciejewski’s pupils were dilated, his eyes were bloodshot and glassy, and he seemed to be “moving at a very-fast pace.”
He allegedly told the officers he had used cocaine eight hours prior.
According to the criminal complaint, Tetrick asked if there was anything in the vehicle a K-9 officer would find and Maciejewski showed the officers a bag of marijuana at the rear of his truck.
Upon further search of the vehicle, officers found one black and clear package of marijuana labeled “Devin Smook 28g” and a second bag of marijuana labeled “Runtz 28g.” In total, 38 grams of marijuana were located, including the packaging, the complaint says.
A small, clear bag weighing 7.6 grams was also found and tested positive for fentanyl/cocaine.
Maciejewski was arrested and charged with possession with the intent to deliver. He was released from custody after posting a $10,000 bond.
Later on Sunday, at around 3:50 p.m., Morgantown officers DeCastro and Moore were called to the Walmart at 75 Retail Circle for two individuals accused of shoplifting, running from the store and leaving in a silver Ford Escape, according to criminal complaints.
Officers located the vehicle and found three occupants, driver Christopher Lee Rowan, 45, front passenger Cory Dain Ball, 30, and back passenger Samantha Sulka, 32.
Officer DeCastro spoke with Ball, who said he took chicken from Walmart, ate it while in the store, then left the package on a shelf, the complaint says.
While searching Ball prior to arrest for shoplifting, DeCastro found small baggies that Ball said contained fentanyl. Ball allegedly further admitted officers would find additional paraphernalia inside his backpack in the vehicle.
In Ball’s backpack, officers found a small purple baggie containing heroin and a piece of aluminum foil that tested positive for fentanyl. In total, Ball was found with 6.7 grams of fentanyl and 0.3 gram of heroin.
Sulka allegedly admitted to having a small amount of marijuana in her backpack.
Upon searching Sulka’s bag, Moore first found a glass smoking pipe with white residue, which Sulka said was methamphetamine.
According to the complaint filed by Moore, the officer also found two 300 mg Gabapentin pills, a section of an ink pen containing suspected methamphetamine residue, a small metal tin with suspected methamphetamine residue and a grinder that contained a “miniscule amount” of crushed marijuana flower.
During a search of Rowan’s vehicle, officers found a glass smoking pipe with suspected meth residue, a digital scale, a plastic bag containing 5.9 grams of methamphetamine. The complaint said he also had 1.7 grams of methamphetamine in his pocket.
All three were arrested and are being held at North Central Regional Jail. Ball and Rowan were charged with felony possession with intent to deliver controlled substances. Bond was set at $10,000 each. Sulka was charged with possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. Her bond was set at $1,500.
