Kenneth Lee Wible, 81, of Audubon, Pa., passed away on August 3, 2024.
Born on May 9, 1943, in Youngwood, Pa., Ken developed a lifelong love of the outdoors. He spent his youth hunting, fishing and trapping. He graduated from Juniata College in 1965 and Jefferson Medical College in 1969. It was there he discovered his calling: seeing to the care and the well-being of children. Ken would go on to serve as a pediatrician and Professor of Pediatrics at West Virginia University, University of Kansas and University of Missouri Kansas City, where he spent 22 years as the Director of the Section of General Pediatrics at Children’s Mercy Hospital. Over his career, Ken was a dedicated and compassionate caregiver to countless children.
It was at medical school in Philadelphia that Ken would also discover the other love of his life, Mary Francine Hincken, who worked as a nurse in Misericordia Hospital. Married in 1970, Ken and Francine had three children, Amy Lynn (d.1972), Sara Elizabeth (Andrew) Guido and Andrew Kenneth (Stacey Farhner). Ken was also a beloved grandfather to Nicholas, Audrey, Asher and Bernice.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth and Harry Kenneth Wible; his sister, Marjorie Christman; and brother-in-law, Jack Christman.
Ken’s legacy of caring for children, his love of the outdoors, his gentle soul, and his good nature will be remembered by all who knew him.
