WEIRTON — A dentist is free on bond facing multiple counts of invasion of privacy in Weirton.
Weirton Police Monday charged Dr. Jeremy Crow, 45, of Washington, Pa. with 39 counts of Criminal Invasion of Privacy. The investigation into Crow started in May when an employee of Crow Dental Associates in Weirton noticed a small camera inside a water bottle placed in the staff-only restroom.
“Within the lid there was a surveillance camera found by one of the employees. It’s something you can buy on the internet. It does contain water, but within the lid there was that camera,” said Weirton Chief of Police Charlie Cush.
Weirton Police said during their investigation at least ten female employees of the practice reported seeing the same water bottle device in the restroom. Police said at this point there was no evidence any of the surveillance cameras were located in the public restroom of the office.
“We’re still investigating in case any more information comes out, but we were quite confident in charging him with the 39 counts of criminal invasion of privacy,” said Cush.
The charges were directed toward Crow when he claimed possession of the water bottle. Although it was a uni-sex restroom, investigators said most of those who used it were female employees of the office.
The office is in an area of Weirton which lies in Brooke County. Crow turned himself into Weirton Police in Hancock County and was arraigned on the misdemeanor charges in Hancock County Magistrate Court. He is free on $20,000 bond.
