James R. Glover, 84, of Greensburg, Pa., died Wednesday, August 7, 2024.
He was born Dec. 23, 1939, in Olean, N.Y. He was the son of the late Charles S. and Goldie Mae (Robey) Glover.
He was a graduate of Mannington High School and West Virginia University. He was an Army veteran and worked as a civil engineer for Allegheny Power Corporation until his retirement.
Jim was a gentle and kind man who loved his family beyond words. He and his wife, Betty, were inseparable through 61 years of marriage, living through the many joys and sorrows we all encounter in life. He was a patient role model for his children and grandchildren, who will cherish the many memories of the time they spent with him, doing projects, fishing, walking in the woods or just being together. They strive today to emulate in their adult lives the example he set for them.
He was a quiet man who was happy to help anybody who needed him, without fanfare or recognition. He had a strong belief in God and strived to live out his faith, serving at Westminster Presbyterian Church for many years as an elder, youth group leader and property committee chair. In his final act of service, he was an organ donor.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Ann Tennant Glover; his daughter, Diana Glover; his daughter, Cheryl Fowler and her husband, Wyman; and three grandchildren, Benjamin Fowler (JooEun Kang), Thomas Fowler (Tiffany Dao) and Katherine Fowler. He was joyously anticipating the arrival of his first great-grandchild in September.
Family and friends will be received at Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, Inc., 524 N. Main St., Greensburg, PA, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13. A memorial service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1120 Harvey Ave., Greensburg, PA, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 14 with the Rev. Jenn Frayer-Griggs officiating. Interment will be at the Beverly Hills Memorial Garden in Westover.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church in Jim’s memory.
