2024 Organizational Arts Grant announces awardees

The Arts Council of Greater Morgantown (ACGM) and Your Community Foundation of North Central West Virginia, Inc. (YCF) are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2024 Organizational Arts Grants. Seventeen nonprofits in Monongalia County will be awarded a collective total of $160,000 at an event Tuesday at the Metropolitan Theatre in Morgantown.

The following organizations will receive grants: M.T Pockets Theatre, Main Street Morgantown, Mon Valley Railroad Historical Society, Monongahela River Trails Conservancy, Monongalia Arts Center, Monongalia Symphony Orchestra, Morgantown Art Association, Morgantown Art Party, Morgantown Dance, Morgantown Theatre Company, PACE Enterprises, Spark! Imagination and Science Center, Summit Chamber Music Series, United Way of Monongalia & Preston Counties, West Virginia Botanic Garden, West Virginia Public Theatre and WV Moonlight Market (in collaboration with ACGM).

The Organizational Arts Grant initiative is a collaborative effort supported by contributions from the City of Morgantown, the Monongalia County Commission, and the YCF Douglas H. Tanner Memorial Fund for the Arts. This year, donations from Liz and Harry Finklea and the Miles McKennan Foreman Youth Art Fund at YCF provided additional funding this year.

The mission of the Organizational Arts Grant program is to broaden community support for the arts, promote excellence in the arts and ensure that our community has a variety of arts programs. The grant structure and criteria were formulated by a committee of volunteers, including individual artists and arts organizations.

“Thanks to our city and county funders and all our local arts nonprofits, we have a thriving arts community,” said Lisa Giuliani, Grant Program Chair. “The competition was extremely stiff this year, so a very big congratulations to all of these organizations for helping move the needle in our arts community.”

The public is invited to attend the grant presentation event, where representatives from each nonprofit will briefly share how grant funds will be used. The event will be 5:30-7 p.m.  Tuesday at the Metropolitan Theatre.

Since 2018, when the City of Morgantown and the Monongalia County Commission began collaborating on the Organizational Arts Grant program, over $1.3 million in grant funding has been awarded to local nonprofits working to promote the arts in Monongalia County.
