Adam Kerns

Adam Wayne Kerns, 44, of Morgantown, passed away at his home on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.  

Adam was born on May 29, 1980, in Morgantown and was the son of Gerald “Gerry” Kerns and Rose (Blosser) Kerns.  

Adam was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald “Junior” L. Kerns Jr. and half-brother, William Patrick Borror.  

In addition to his parents, Adam is survived by his step-mother, Julia M. Kerns; his sister, Judith (Jamie) Hilling, of Morgantown; brother, Alan J. (Nacole Sharp) Kerns, of Morgantown; half-brother, Warron “Paul” (Amanda) Borror II, of Charleston; niece, Nikita L. Borror; nephews, Connor and Carson Borror; great-nieces, Gabriella Porch, Twyla Bolyard; great-nephew, Layne Johns; and his loving significant other, Jennifer I. Wilmouth, of Morgantown.  

Adam graduated from Morgantown High School Class of 1998 and Fairmont State College in 2003. He worked for Eat-n-Park, Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department and since February 2005, at the federal prison in Hazelton.  

Adam was a member of the Monongalia Lodge #10 Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge and served as the Grand Master of WV 2018-2019, a member of Joseph W Summers Lodge Number 173 Masons, the Brookhaven Volunteer Fire Company 12 from 1995 to present and the Monongalia Hazmat Team Company 24.  

Adam enjoyed “wind therapy” riding his Harley Davidson Road King motorcycle. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and visiting Ireland and England overseas. Most of all, Adam enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  

Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, August 4. The visitation will conclude with an IOOF Memorial Service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue at Hastings Funeral Home from 10 a.m. on Monday, August 5, until the time of the funeral service at noon with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Joseph W Summers Lodge #173 AF&AM will conduct ritualistic masonic services at the graveside.  

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Brookhaven Volunteer Fire Department, 412 Brookhaven Road, Morgantown, WV 26508.
