A Morgantown man is in jail after he allegedly solicited sexual activity with a minor.
On July 20, Granville Police were called to a Granville residence regarding a complaint involving a 21-year-old man, later identified as Jaysiah Aderious Dawson, meeting a 12-year-old.
Court documents state that during an interview conducted by the Monongalia County Child Advocacy Center on July 24, it was discovered that on the night of July 20 Dawson made several comments to the child via text message about committing sexual acts with him.
Dawson came to the 12-year-old’s location that night and attempted to commit sexual acts, according to a criminal complaint.
It was later discovered through the investigation that Dawson previously had sexual intercourse with the 12-year-old at a different residence outside of Granville.
Dawson is charged with soliciting and traveling to engage in sexual activity with a minor.
If convicted, Dawson could face 5 to 30 years in prison, fines up to $25,000, or a combination of both.
He is currently being held at North Central Regional Jail on a $50,000 cash bond.
