August is here, but summer is far from over

August is approaching! Now is the time to squeeze in the last things on your bucket list before school starts. See some of the events happening this month that you can do yourself, with friends or with the family.

The Purple Project: A Prince Tribute, 6:30 p.m. Friday.  

Join us for a groovy Friday night concert at the Ruby Hazel McQuain Amphitheater with The Purple Project: A Prince Tribute. Get ready to party like it’s 1999 as Marshall Charloff & Purple xPeRIeNCE pay homage to the legendary artist’s music. With their funky tunes and soulful performances, they’ll have you dancing the night away. And don’t miss The Michael Weber Show, bringing their explosive rock energy to the stage. It’s sure to be a night of music fit for royalty.  

WVU Football Fan Day, 9:30 a.m. Saturday. 

Calling all Mountaineers! Join WVU Football for their annual WVU Football Fan Day on Saturday. This is your chance to get autographs from your favorite Mountaineer players and coaches and get an inside look at practice. Coach Neal Brown, assistant coaches and players will sign autographs and visit with fans from 9:30-11 a.m. on the West Concourse of Milan Puskar Stadium. Fans should enter through the stadium’s West Gate on the press box side, which will open at 9:20 a.m. Admission to the event is free. After you get your autographs head into the stands to watch the Mountaineers practice inside Milan Puskar Stadium until 1 p.m.  

Food Trucks Day at the Pool, noon Sunday. 

Join Camp Muffly Park for an extra fun day at the pool. Bring the whole family along for a full day of swimming, food trucks and fun. No need to pack a lunch — there will be plenty of yummy options at the park for you and the kids to enjoy. As the summer season continues, let’s celebrate with the whole community.  

Garden Yoga at the Botanic Garden, 6 p.m. Wednesday. 

Grab your yoga mat and spend an hour relaxing in the garden at the West Virginia Botanic Garden. This vinyasa flow class incorporates the inspirations of the nature surrounding you. This will be a guided class to help calm the mind, body, and spirit. The cost is $12 for members and $15 for non-members.
